To use LeadPilot you need to connect your e-mail account and approve access. In this article we explain what type of access LeadPilot needs and why. The scope for the access is also limited by our privacy policy and DPA.
Send email:
To connect with people over email, LeadPilot needs access to send emails using your email account. Connections are controlled by the user through the LeadPilot-platform.
Access to inbox:
LeadPilot need access to your email inbox to identify email replies so planned follow-ups can be aborted and statistics can be collected for the user.
The access is also required to respect recipients' requests to not be contacted again (Opt-Out).
Technical details:
IMAP / SMPT: Configured towards existing IMAP-server for incoming email and SMTP for outgoing email.
Google / Gmail: LeadPilot has to be added as a trusted app to connect account. Access to the following scopes:
/auth/gmail.send – Send emails on your behalf
/auth/gmail.readonly – View your emails and settings
/auth/contacts.readonly – Not used in current version, legacy
Microsoft / Office 365: Depending on the configuration, admin approval may be required. Access to the following scopes:
Mail.ReadWrite, Mail.Send – Send emails on your behalf and view your emails
Contacts.Read, People.Read – Not used in current version, legacy
SPF, DKIM, DMARC: Because LeadPilot connects to an existing email account, no LeadPilot-specific configuration is required for SPF, DKIM and DMARC. If you have not configured this for your domain yet, we strongly recommend it to make sure emails are delivered and ensure healthy email domain protection.
Integration with email vendors are handled through Nylas to ensure a security standard that complies with, for instance, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. Here you can read more about Nylas.
Note that access is limited to account specific scopes. If you wish even more granular access we recommend to connect LeadPilot with a specific email account only intended for LeadPilot use, and configure forwarding of emails to the user's primary email account.
