When styling HTML emails, there are certain limitations to consider, especially when using LeadPilot. A key limitation is that our platform does not support the use of the <style> tag. Therefore, all styling must be applied as inline styling. This is a recommended practice in email design to ensure that your emails are displayed correctly for the widest possible audience.

Why inline styling?

Inline styling means that each HTML element has its CSS properties directly within the style attribute of the element. Here are some reasons why inline styling is best for emails:

  • Compatibility: Many email clients, especially older versions, have limited support for the <style> tag. Inline styling ensures your design appears correctly across most platforms and clients.
  • Simpler Debugging: By having all styling directly within HTML elements, it becomes easier to see what affects the appearance of a specific element.
  • Reduced Risk of Issues: Some email clients remove the <style> tag entirely, which can cause your email to appear as plain text without formatting.

Converting <style> tags to inline styling

If you have already written your CSS in a <style> tag, you need to convert it to inline styling for it to work correctly in your email. Here are some steps to do this:

  1. Prepare your CSS: Make sure you have your CSS code ready, either from a <style> tag or an external CSS file.
  2. Use AI tools like ChatGPT: You can ask an AI tool, such as ChatGPT, for help with the conversion.

  2. Ask ChatGPT for help: Write a query to ChatGPT:
"Can you help me convert the following CSS code to inline styling for HTML emails?"

  3. Include your CSS code in the query: Copy your CSS code and include it in your query.

  4. Receive inline styling back: ChatGPT will process your CSS and provide you with a version of your HTML with inline styling applied:
