You have probably found it difficult to attach files such as PDFs in sequences, this is for the reason that we do not recommend attaching files when sending cold sales-driven emails. Having a file attached in the sequence can be inappropriate for several reasons:
Security Risks
When receiving an email from an unknown address, one is often critical of files included in the email, to avoid viruses or fraud. This could simply lead to your email being ignored or reported as spam.
Spam Filters
Many email systems have spam filters that automatically identify emails with attachments from unknown senders as potentially harmful or unwanted. This increases the risk that your email will not even reach the recipient's inbox.
File Size
Attachments, especially large files, can cause problems for the recipient's email account by taking up a lot of space or by not being deliverable due to size limitations on the recipient's email server.
Engagement Barriers
Asking the recipient to download and open a file adds additional steps in their decision-making process. It is more effective to include the most compelling content directly in the email or to offer a link to the information online, which can be more inviting and less time-consuming for the recipient.
Personalization and Relevance
Cold sales emails should strive to be as tailored and relevant as possible for the recipient. A generic file attachment can be perceived as less personal and relevant than content that is customized and integrated directly into the email.
Instead of sending files directly, consider including a link to the file stored online. This allows the recipient to choose to view the information when they feel comfortable with the sender, while also giving you the opportunity to track their interest based on whether they click on the link.
